This was a WILD story. Love the raw sharing here, Robbie. A few things that stood out to me:

1) “If you die before you die, you won’t die when you die” i

2) "Restriction provides the ability to actually enjoy your life more in the normal moments."

3) Generally, your relationship to the dark and how much we rely on our sense of sight to tell our brain that we are safe. I imagine you crawling or feeling your way to the toilet. Fiddling around to open your meals. It's insane how much we rely on this one scent.

Glad that you didn't have COVID and the half-day out on Day 8 felt like heaven for the simple animal that all humans are. Funny how normal for even the most educated people to fall into slumps. These kinds of resets are what many need right now. Maybe not a Dark retreat but a trip to Inward when things open up ;)

Thanks again for writing this!

Beautiful read this, Rob. Thanks for sharing this.

My heart smiled at this and at the memory of meeting you and Emily in Berlin a few years ago.

What an enchanting story. The way the experience was written encapsulates the depth of the journey allowing the reader to feel the significant contrast between the before and after. It seems like everything in life is a journey of self development which begins with self reflection. Frantic hussle prompts burnout and unhealthy habits- retreats act as a pause from the outside world allowing one to fully engage in their own thoughts. The most challenging obstacles in life seems to be one's own mind- uncertainties about one's goal in life, uncertainties about whether they are on the right track- its draining and destructive. I love the clarity that surfaces from retreats, saunas, ice baths, and similar practices. I really appreciate that Othership is an extent of your own growth, adding that personal touch and emotional connection to the experience.
